The Break

It started with a notification.
Nothing dramatic — just a quiet buzz on someone’s phone between meetings.

“You’ve been gifted a snack.”

A woman in a modern office breakroom smiles while selecting a snack from a TraXXable smart vending machine. She holds a water bottle and granola bar, and coworkers chat in the background, reflecting a warm, connected workplace culture.

No sender name. No context. Just that.

They smiled, walked down to the breakroom, and found their favorite drink waiting in the machine.
No one said anything, but by the end of the week, a few others had gotten the same message.

Then people began sending their own.
A quick thank you. A silent apology.
A small pick-me-up for someone who looked like they needed one.

It wasn’t part of any HR program. No one made a Slack channel for it.
It just… spread.

Every buzz on a phone meant someone thought of someone else.
And slowly, the office started to feel different.
Less transactional. More alive.

No announcement. No initiative.
Just a handful of small gestures — quiet proof that care doesn’t need a meeting to exist.

Sometimes it’s enough to know someone out there noticed.
